I must say I have been reluctant to go to Walgreens. My first experience was not good. I did not know I had to have the same amount of items as coupons (including in ad coupons). So if you have ten coupons you have to have ten items. They keep low amount fillers near the register. This time it was a good trip and I had no problems with this cashier!!!! I was very excited about the outcome.

Hope this helps some of you in this weeks shopping. Remember the new grocery ads started today!

Happy Saving.

Now I know what you are thinking? Men's Products? What do you need with those with only three women in the house? I tell you...gift baskets, care packages to young men in college and having stock on hand when visitors come and are unprepared or forgetful or just to be able to give to someone who is having a hard time financially. The bible says when you have done unto the least of these you have done unto me. Getting these things for practically nothing and having them on hand for whatever situation arises is a good thing!

Happy shopping!

A Little Tweet

Catch me on the "Tweet" side. I can tweet out from my cell if I run across good deals!

https://twitter.com/JenSavesMoney

A Couple REALLY good offers here.

Just a tip: If you are going to be signing up for freebies and coupons (Which I strongly recommend...you get some really good stuff) I suggest setting up an email account for free through yahoo, hot mail or GMail (my preference). This way your personal box isn't bombarded with solicitor offers.

This is for a Homemade Simple Coupon Booklet with close to $30.00 in Proctor and Gamble product coupons in it. P&G has quickly become my favorite coupon insert and when I know it is in the paper I am going to buy 6-10 copies.

Take a visit to Southern Savers for the breakdown on this rebate. The have the three sales at CVS, Walgreens and Publix outlined better than I could do it for you.

New Email

Hey! I just got it set up and I am SO SO excited! If you come across any good sales, deals or coupons or if you find that something I post is not correct or you can better the deal please email me at jennifersavesmoney@gmail.com .

Week End Wrap Up

Boy it has been a week! Three trips to CVS, Three trips to Wal-mart, Two to target...not to mention Old Navy, Burlington, Ross & Marshall on top of work, the end of another school year. That is why I have not posted in serveral days. Life sure does get busy.

Yes it's that time of year again when you drag your whining, complaining pre-teen to ...da da da da....shop for YOUTH CAMP! The junior clothes are mostly age-inappropriate, not to mention the kids even at 12 are only wanting the low-cut, high butt clothes and I'm sorry but as a responsible parent I just can't allow her to run around like that. We did manage to find her some really cool sneakers, some Bermuda shorts, and a variety of graphic tees and tanks (Thank you Old Navy for your $2.00 Tank Top Sale on Saturday. She was good mostly but tired to say the least and after several days of shopping I think we have her squared away.

I got some cool sales, some sales that didn't pan out, and I learned a few lessons.

When taking sale tips from blog sites out of your immediate area....call the store to verify the price of an item before driving 25 min to check it out yourself. The upside to NOT verifying is that Michelle and I can both quote you the prices of an 8 oz bottle of Oil of Olay Total Effects Body Wash from every store in the Dundee, Haines City, Davenport, Winter Haven area! We can also tell you that Publix is the only store we have found that carries the ever elusive Ivory Body Wash.

P&G 06/05 Coupons for $4.00 off OOOTBD AND Buy the Oil of Olay(OOOTBW) and get a bottle of Ivory Body Wash Free. I have five coupons so this would have made the ten bottles of Body Wash approximately. $10.00 ( A good deal to me).

I got 5 bottles of Dawn Dish Washing Detergent for $.69 at CVS and managed to put together a very nice basket for a High School Graduate with all of those lovely men care products I got for practically nothing at CVS. My stockpile of extra products is growing by the week and hopefully within a few months I will have enough on hand to pass out care packages to people who have fallen on hard times in this economy. I also ordered Non Business Cards to promote this blog site and the couponing group I am trying to get off the ground.

I don't really have any funny stories this week except for the lady at Walmart who thought I was insane for only buying wipes and Rolaids. But hey I paid 1.60 and have enough Rolaids for the free world so who cares!

Signing off for now. I'll be back tomorrow with some great deals for you and don't forget to run out and get your papers today!

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Dawn!

The sale ends tommorow so run on out and get your Dawn Dish Washing Detergent at CVS on sale for $.97. There was a $.50 off coupon in this past Sundays P&G insert. If you have bucks to roll over it's even better. I scored 5 bottles and paid $.69 out of pocket!

CVS Runs = After 10 PM

Accidentally last night a friend and I decided to shop the price of a particular item while we were out and about. We walked into CVS after 10 pm and I had an epiphany! There was no one in the store. There was no line at the register and the cashier was bored and very talkative! Hmmmm. I'm thinking my CVS runs are going to be at night when everyone else is home in bed. I will be able to walk in, get my products, take as much time as I need with separate transactions and be more effective in my savings.

Any other nocturnal shoppers out there? Are there any "unique" rituals you use while shopping? If so , please share....

Pampers Wipes and Rolaids Antacids

My friend called me last night for a "score" run to Target. We were actually searching out a deal on body wash but thought we could do better and decided to shop other stores. We thought Wal-Mart would be cheaper on the body wash deal...but they weren't. Lesson # 1 learned = When you find the good deal buy the good deal. We decided we would go ahead and get our other deal while at Wal-Mart.

Here is the funny part...I walk up to the register with six boxes of Rolaids and two packs of Pampers Wipes and nothing else. The cashier gave me quite a strange look. As you can see by the transaction below I got another strange look when she told me my total of $1.60 and a third stranger look when I did the arm pump and proclaimed "YES"!

Anyways...it's ok if she thinks I'm strange. I'm sure the next time she has an upset stomach or has to change a diaper she will remember me!

Rolaids Soft Chews 12-18 Ct or Rolaids 4 pack $2.23 @ Wal-Mart
$4.00 off 2 (PG 06/06)
Pampers Wipes (regular or sensative skin) 60 ct $1.97 @ Wal-Mart
$2.00 off 1 (PG 06/06)

Before Coupons Total $17.32
After Coupons Total $ 1.60
Percentage Saved %89.175

Become a CVS Advisor

Just found a new way to get ECB's. Sign up with CVS to be an Advisor . You will get surveys a few times a year and they reward you for your time with ECB's to use at CVS.

Can I get a WOOT WOOT???

Couponing with a friend.

My friend Michelle Thompson just stopped by. Together we mapped out her CVS trip for tommorow. Now let me just say when you first start out you are going to need a few items. A good pair of scissors, a sharpie marker and at the very least a poly accordian file. You can get these things at the Dollar Tree. It will take several weeks of saving your coupon inserts before you have full access to all the best deals and your first trip to CVS, Walgreens, etc....will have an out of pocket expense. You were going to spend that money any way but you will have a coupon savings and then you have your ECB s to roll over for the next trip.

Michelle has a long list of razors, deoderants, shower gels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dish detergent, cokes and more. Her out of pocket expense should be at $30.00 however she is going to be able to use coupons on everything and I am guessing she will have saved about 75% of the normal cost of these products. I will get her receipts tommorow and do the figures. I want to show that us normal housegirls can do this saving money thing with ease and minimal time.

Lets see what happens.......To Be Continued

The most useful links

Taylortown Coupon Preview

This website well tell you a few days to a week ahead of time what coupons will appear in the paper the following Sunday. This allows you to figure how many copies you will want to buy for your needs.

Southern Savers

They match up the coupons with the sales flyers that give you the biggest savings. They have a tab for CVS (my personal favorite) Walgreens, Publix, Target, and also for Winn Dixie under other grocery stores. They also have a section that has three video tutorials that outline the basics of couponing and how to organize.

Red Plum
Is one of the publishers of the coupon inserts. Here you can print coupons directly from their website after installing the coupon printer. It is very easy to do.

Smart
Source

This is one of the other publishers of the coupon inserts. You can also print directly from this site. The third insert you will find is Proctor & Gamble, however they do not have a direct print site that I know of.

These are the links that I use to organize my coupons for shopping. Without Southern Savers I would be so totally lost. They make it so easy to save money. All you have to do is follow directions and spend a little start up time.

My last favorite site is the CVS website. You can view their circular online but what I find so helpful is that when you click on an individual item it gives you the option of adding it to you shopping list. I print my shopping list here after going over the sales on Southern Savers. I put this list with any coupons and CVS EC Bucks in an Envelope. When I go into CVS this list eliminates the need for impulse shopping. I get what is on the list. Put my seperate transactions in order and check out.

Hope this info helps some of you. If you have other sites that you frequent or that you swear by, please let me know.

CVS 06/06/10

I come home from church with my score of Sunday papers and was SO excited. I bought three Lakeland Ledgers today because it had two coupon inserts -vs- News Chief that only had one. Today the paper's housed P&G and RP. There were some AWESOME coupons today. If you don't have a paper yet you need to go buy one.

I organized my coupons (will post about this later) and pulled up my FAVORITE source southernsavers.com . As always I go straight to the CVS tab for the weekly match ups. I printed my list according to the really good ECB deals and the items I had coupons for and my daughter Zoe and I took off.

We picked up our items with no problem and no outages since the ad only started running today and headed to the counter. The trick is seperate transactions and although I haven't mastered this yet I am saving a ton of money. I did have to have him back a couple of transactions out because I got confused on which ones to do first and "embarrassed" my poor little daughter.

The outcome you ask?

1 Pantene Shampoo
1 Pantene Mouse
2 Rolaids Chewables
2 Mens Gillette Deoderants
1 Mens Gillette Body Wash
1 Venus Breeze Razor
1 Gillette Fusion Pro Glide Razor

Full retail value.....$60.71
Price I paid..........$11.20
Savings...............$49.51
I saved apx 82% of what I would have normally spent.

This excites me! The prospect of saving money is exciting. I have been at this for about four weeks spent apx $ 50.00 on apx $ 200.00 worth of products.

Some products I have made money on, some I have got for free, some I have paid a few cents for and the rest I still saved about 75%.

I'll keep you posted. Let you know of any really good deals I come across.

I always have extra diapers, wipies and formula coupons as well as pet care coupons because I neither have a child or a pet...so if you are in need of this let me know.

Happy Saving!!!!!!
